As already discussed during the last weeks (see also here), access to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) licenses is changing in 2025. There are two ways to get personal VCF licenses, first being either a vExpert, or second having a VMUG Advantage membership. Both involve an active VMUG Advantage membership, and the requirement of passing the VCP-VCF certification exam, but vExperts get the VMUG Advantage membership for free (most likely only in 2025).
Here are all the details of the two pathways:
For non-vExperts
- VMUG Advantage Membership Required: Non-vExperts will need to purchase a $210 VMUG Advantage membership.
- VCP-VCF Certification: To access the VCF license and downloads, passing the VCP-VCF Exam is required.
- Upon completion and passing the exam, licenses will be distributed to you individually.
For vExperts
- VMUG Advantage Membership: Starting in 2025, vExperts will receive a $210 complimentary VMUG Advantage membership.
- VCP-VCF Certification: To access the VCF license and downloads, vExperts must pass the VCP-VCF exam. VMUG Advantage membership includes a discount on the exam, along with other exciting benefits currently available and with a lot more to come.
- Upon completion and passing the exam, licenses will be distributed to you individually.
BTW: if you want to take the vExpert path, applications for the 2025 awards are already open until January 10th 2025.
